Kanawha County voters will decide two county-level races in the Nov. 3 general election, choosing a county commissioner and a magistrate to serve an unexpired term.
Republican Jared Page faces Democrat Paul Monroe for a seat on the three-member Kanawha County Commission, which oversees the county's budget, manages county property and helps fund public services, including emergency services and recreation.
Five candidates are competing in the nonpartisan race for Division 6 magistrate: Andrea Richmond-Board, Earl Whittington, Nick Quinn, Paris Workman and Wm. Bolts Willis. Magistrates handle misdemeanor criminal cases, smaller civil disputes and preliminary hearings in felony cases. They also issue warrants, set bail and grant emergency protective orders.
Early voting runs from Wednesday, Oct. 21, through Saturday, Oct. 31. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
