Disability services group offering mobile office in the UKV

The Appalachian Center for Independent Living will offer twice-monthly services in Chesapeake beginning Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

T

he Appalachian Center for Independent Living (ACIL) provides a number of services to people with disabilities around the Kanawha Valley.

Beginning Wednesday, April 15, individuals in the upper Kanawha Valley will have the opportunity to engage with ACIL representatives through the nonprofit’s Mobile Office.

"Our mobile team provides support for people with disabilities right in the community, making it easier to get the help you need without traveling far," ACIL Resource Development Manager Savannah Duncan said in an email.

ACIL offers assistance with independent living skills, accessing resources, advocacy and connecting to local services.

Beginning Wednesday, ACIL will provide mobile services on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Currey Memorial Annex at Chesapeake Town Hall, 12316 MacCorkle Ave. in Chesapeake. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on those days.

"The ACIL Mobile Office is here to increase independence, remove barriers, and support you where you are," Duncan said.

During the visits, ACIL mobile staff will provide four daily classes, including an exercise class, a life skills session, a creative arts activity and the Resource Café, which focuses on helpful community resources.

Individuals can also schedule one-on-one appointments in Chesapeake. To make an appointment, call 304-965-0376 or email info@wvacil.org.

Those in need of transportation to and from the mobile office may call 304-965-0376 to arrange service.
