This prestigious distinction places Thomas Hospitals among the top-performing heart surgery programs in the nation for quality and patient outcomes. The STS star rating system is the most widely recognized and respected benchmark for cardiac surgery, evaluating programs based on risk-adjusted outcomes including mortality, complications, and adherence to evidence-based care.
The recognition is part of a broader achievement across the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute network, which received top ratings in multiple categories of adult cardiac surgery.
