Families will have a chance to walk among massive dinosaurs — and take part in hands-on prehistoric activities — when Jurassic Quest comes to Charleston this weekend.
The traveling dinosaur experience will be at the Charleston Coliseum from Friday, Oct. 2, through Sunday, Oct. 4.
Jurassic Quest, billed as North America’s largest and most realistic traveling dinosaur experience, gives visitors an up-close look at life-size dinosaur models. Among the biggest creatures on display will be a 60-foot spinosaurus, an 80-foot apatosaurus and a gigantic Tyrannosaurus rex.
But the event goes beyond looking at dinosaurs. Families can participate in interactive raptor training, meet baby dinosaurs and take dinosaur rides. Fossil digs, science activities, crafts, build stations, bounce houses and games will also be available.
Visitors can explore life-size dinosaur models and other immersive prehistoric experiences throughout Jurassic Quest.
A special session Saturday morning is designed to make the experience more accessible for guests with sensory sensitivities and mobility needs. The sensory and mobility friendly experience will be held from 8 to 9 a.m., offering a quieter environment for those visitors.
