At the next UC "Thinking Outside the Lunchbox" event, guest speaker Robert L. Coffield of Nelson Mullins will explore the promise and risks of AI in healthcare, focusing on how AI is transforming care for providers, organizations, patients, and communities.
"AI In Healthcare: What Patients, Providers and Leaders Need to Know" is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13. The discussion takes place at the University of Charleston's Downtown Innovation Hub, 240 Capitol St. in Charleston. The event is free and open to the public. Online registration is recommended.
The presentation will address the rapidly evolving legal, ethical, and operational landscape surrounding AI in healthcare, according to organizers. The session will engage audience members who work in the healthcare industry in a dialogue about how they currently use AI and will include a practical discussion of the rewards, risks, and organizational changes resulting from AI implementation.
If time allows, the session may include a live demonstration of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Google NotebookLM, and other AI platforms, along with practical examples of how the healthcare industry is using AI tools and technology.
