Families will have the chance to think like engineers and create something extraordinary together during the upcoming Great Charleston Domino Challenge at the Clay Center.
The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, and is included with museum admission. Throughout the afternoon, families and friends will work side by side to build a giant community domino chain reaction spanning the Clay Center's Grand Lobby.
Beginning at noon, each group will design and build its own section of the course. Every section will connect with the next, creating one large domino display that highlights creativity, planning and teamwork.
At 3 p.m., participants and spectators will gather for the community knockdown, watching the completed course come to life as thousands of dominoes topple in sequence.
The event also will feature the work of local domino and plank artist Vinny Franck. During the week leading up to the challenge, Franck will create a special domino art installation that will serve as the centerpiece of the community build and remain on display throughout the event.
