The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the 11th Family Judicial Circuit in Kanawha County following the resignation of Judge Jim Douglas.
Douglas began serving on the 11th Family Judicial Circuit bench in 2016 and was re-elected in 2024. In May, he was elected to the West Virginia Intermediate Court of Appeals. His 10-year term on the appeals court begins Jan. 1, 2027.
Applicants for the 11th Family Judicial Circuit vacancy must complete the judicial vacancy application and submit it by email to JVAC@wv.gov or by mail to the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission, c/o Office of General Counsel to the Governor, Office of the Governor, State Capitol, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. E., Charleston, WV 25305.
Applications, along with letters of recommendation or comment, must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14. Late submissions may not be considered.
Interviews for applicants are scheduled to be held virtually Wednesday, Oct. 28.
