Free nursing boot camp offered at University of Charleston

High school students are invited to discover the profession during the May 5 event.

igh school students interested in nursing are invited to learn more about nursing and nursing school through the University of Charleston’s annual spring Nursing Boot Camp.

The UC Nursing Boot Camp will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5. The event is open to rising eighth through 12th grade students interested in one of today’s most sought-after and meaningful professions. Campers will participate in interactive, hands-on activities and gain insights into real-world nursing careers. They will also explore nursing school, the admissions process, and UC’s wide range of nursing programs.

Campers will also enjoy a taco bar in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.

The camp is free, but space is limited. Students must register by 5:00 p.m. April 24, 2026, to secure a spot. To register or learn more, contact Jessica Pistner at jessicapistner@ucwv.edu.

There will be a similar boot camp at UC-Beckley on May 4, 2026. Those interested in the Beckley camp should contact Kennita Thomas at kennitalthomas@ucwv.edu by April 28.

The University of Charleston offers a variety of nursing programs: an associate degree program at both its Charleston campus and Beckley location; a four-year nursing degree, an RN-to-BSN program, and a master’s degree in nursing focused on Family Nurse Practitioner at its Charleston campus. Details about these programs can be found on the university’s website.
